The last weekend of October, we hosted a beautiful afternoon of reading and reflection with Noname Book Club in honour of Assata Shakur.
Following a community reading of “Assata: An Autobiography,” a powerful text tracing the life, resistance, and legacy of Assata Shakur, we screened “Eyes of the Rainbow,” Gloria Rolando’s intimate documentary featuring Assata’s own reflections on liberation, spirituality, and exile in Cuba.
It was a radical time of camaraderie and community, followed by palm wine, music, and conversation.
Thank you to everyone who came and to our residents, Larada Lee-Wallace and Angela Wright.
